The special Choral Evensong service – on Sunday 21 September 2014 – will commence at 6pm, when the Bishop of the Northern and Western region of the Diocese, Philip Huggins, will bless the stone.
Bishop Huggins will preach, and the Trinity choir will sing music by Orlando Gibbons, Gabriel Jackson, Stanford and Urmas Sisiask.
Prayers and hymns that were used at the original dedication will be replicated in this service, which will mark the beginning of a three-year centenary period.
All friends of Trinity Chapel are welcome to attend. The service will be followed by refreshments in the Old Warden's Lodge.
As was noted in The Argus on 1 October 1914:
‘In the history of ÂÒÂ×´óÉñ, Wednesday, September 30, 1914, will rank as one of its most auspicious days. The foundation-stone of the Memorial Chapel of the college, which has been given, at a cost of £10,000, was laid by the donor, Mr. J.S. Horsfall. The ceremony, which was both solemn and inspiring, was attended by between 200 and 300 interested people.’
