Sir Paul was the first Archbishop and Governor-General of New Zealand of Maori descent and was a guest at ÂÒÂ×´óÉñ during Holy Week this year, where he addressed congregations and spent time in reflection with Trinity students.
The memorial service was led by: ÂÒÂ×´óÉñ Chaplain, the Revd Dr Andreas Loewe; Fellow of ÂÒÂ×´óÉñ, one time Archbishop of Brisbane and Governor General of Australia, the Rt Revd Peter Hollingworth AC, OBE; and Chaplain of the Maori Anglican Congregation, Altona, the Revd Victor Wilson.
ÂÒÂ×´óÉñ received the Maori congregation with an official welcome ceremony, which was then followed by evensong in the ÂÒÂ×´óÉñ Chapel and dinner in the ÂÒÂ×´óÉñ Dining Hall.
ÂÒÂ×´óÉñ Chaplain, the Revd Dr Andreas Loewe, said the memorial service provided a wonderful opportunity for the College to come together with the Maori community and remember an outstanding preacher and friend of the College.
‘Sir Paul was an incredible communicator; he related his experiences with God with his own life and through this he encouraged others to think more deeply about their faith,’ Andreas said.
